RPG maker horror games are pixilated 2D adventure games made through any RPG maker software. It's common gameplay includes being trapped in some location where you have to navigate the character and solve riddles and puzzles in order for you to escape. You will also meet different characters along the way who will either join your party or become your enemy. It is usually set in a nightmare inducing location where you are met with jumpscares and terrifying creatures chasing after you. As you explore the location you also discover underlying the place holds and it's connection with you. There are also multiple endings that arr affected by the way you play. Another sub genre of gameplay is what i like to call Yume Nikki-esque gameplay where in you explore the world of your dreams and gather effects to reach the ending. Some games also include a battle style system similar to common rpg games. Whatever style of gameplay it includes it still manages to shake the players in fear and also manages to captivate us with it's bewitching mysteriousness and beauty.
